General Information
The Maritime Security and Safety Group provides a focus for member companies of the Society of Maritime Industries that have a specific interest in maritime security and safety issues and in the development of their business in these fields. It does this through the pursuit and support of the Society’s four main objectives: assisting members in the development of their domestic and export business; helping to shape the maritime business environment through beneficial change; organising net-working and communication opportunities for members; contributing to the provision of an ever expanding range of tangible member services. A secondary aim is to encourage new companies to join the Society and associate themselves with the work of the Group.
The scope of maritime security and safety encompasses all operational and technical issues that permit authorities responsible for the maritime environment, together with mariners on fixed and floating maritime assets, to pursue their activities and to move securely and safely from one place to another in a timely fashion.
