The Association of Marine Scientific Industries (AMSI) is a constituent association of the Society of Maritime Industries (SMI) and benefits from its significant resources across all maritime sectors. As a market orientated trade association, AMSI supports companies in the marine science and technology sector and is also the focus for the oceanographic and marine environment interests of members of the Society of Maritime Industries.

Ocean Business Exhibition


Ocean Business 2011 is organised by Intelligent Exhibitions Ltd in partnership with AMSI.
The event is established as one of the most important international events in the ocean technology calendar. This biennial event takes place in the spring and is hosted by the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton.

• Information on issues of significance in marine science and technology provided in regular briefings.
  
• Opportunities to network with other members across the whole of the Society of Maritime Industries for commercial benefit.
  
• Organises conferences, seminars and workshops relevant to the industry at beneficial rates for members.
  
• Opportunities for UK Trade and Investment sponsorship of overseas trade missions and attendance at overseas exhibitions. AMSI facilitates substantial grants to assist with costs.
  
• Inward trade missions, whereby AMSI arranges for international customers and stakeholders to visit the UK and see at first hand UK capability.

Our objectives are:

• To promote recognition and expansion of the marine scientific industry through national and European initiatives
  
• To provide technological and market related information to members
  
• To offer a means of active and positive co-operation with the European Commission and national governments
  
• To assist in the development of governmental oceanographic programmes and services
  
• To provide an objective forum for the discussion and resolution of common problems or issues that impacts the commercial oceanographic industry
